In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Muslims are encouraged to give if they have the means to do so for the sake of Allah. Because of Allah, we have become a community that are very giving. There are plenty of verses in the Qur’an that explain and mention the endless rewards in giving.
Allah (SWT) says: “Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.” (Surat al-Hadid, 57:7)
Allah (SWT) also says: “Spend (in the Cause of Allah) from the provisions that We have given you before death should come to any of you and then he should say, ‘O my Lord, why did You not reprieve me awhile that I should have given in charity and become of the righteous.'” (Surah al-Munafiqun, 63:10)
We can also learn from stories of our predecessors, Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) and Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA), who competed in giving for the pleasure of Allah (SWT).
Giving for the sake of Allah (SWT) is to get blessing from Him. Your donation will come a long way and can help the UMD Muslim student committee.
Jazakum Allah Khairan!
