"Islam, the religion of over 1.2 billion in
the world, provides humankind with a
unified view about the purpose of our
creation and existence, our ultimate
destiny and our place among other
creatures. It is a way of life that is in
complete conformance with nature, and
with reason, logic and science."
-Islam Explained, Islamic Council of North America
Islam is a monotheistic faith; our religion centers around the belief in God (Allah, in Arabic) alone as the sole Creator and Sustainer of the universe. To be a Muslim one must testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah. Islam means to attain peace through submission to God's will.
God sent His message through prophets over time, beginning with Adam, and including Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all). These prophets were sent to their people to teach them the same message, that there is none worthy of worship except God, that we are accountable for our actions in life, and that we must obey God to be successful in life. The chain of prophets ended with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the last Messenger to all of mankind. The Quran, was sent as a guidance and warning to mankind. The Quran is solely the words of Allah, and was sent to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel over a period of 23 years. Unlike any other holy scripture, it still remains in it's original form, down to every last letter, to this day.
